grado was founded in Hangzhou, China, and places design for a better life at the heart of everything we do. We focus on creativity and aesthetic expression, exploring the emotional connection between people and space.
We insist on design originality and a philosophy of creating pieces that are made to last. By selecting high-quality materials and embracing sustainable practices, we aim to build lasting beauty between people and the way they live.
grado's Story Begins
In 2013, our founder Alex passed through a small town in Italy called “Grado”. He was intrigued to learn that “grado” means “angle” in Italian — a word that struck a chord with him. Later, he chose Grado as the name of the brand, not only for its meaning but also for the resonance it carried. In Chinese, “格度” (grado) implies both “style” and “warmth”— a name that reflects our design philosophy.
Established in 2014 in Hangzhou, China. As we grew, we noticed the line between home and office was becoming increasingly blurred. In response, grado set out to bring great design beyond the 8-hour workday and into the other 8 hours of life. In 2019, we officially launched the Living collection — marking a new chapter in our brand journey. This is the grado you see today.
Our Designers
grado has collaborated with independent designers and studios from Italy, Germany, Spain, Canada, Japan, and other countries since its founding.
Together with the grado design team, they form our R&D center, dedicated to creating products that stand the test of time. grado transforms designers’ ideas into real pieces, bringing creative furniture to a wide range of spaces.（Pictures show only some designers）
Manufacturing Center
Every product is meticulously designed and crafted by our people. From initial concept to final production, our skilled staff works together to create exceptional designs.
We carefully select and source materials to ensure each piece meets our high standards of quality and craftsmanship.
Sustainability
grado’s R&D and manufacturing center uses renewable energy in production. Solar photovoltaic panels account for up to 70% of its energy use, and 100% water recycling is achieved.
Residential Project
grado’s spatial designers work closely with clients to explore richer and more personalized possibilities for the home, while documenting the most inspiring homes to share ideas and inspiration.
Lifestyle
grado is rooted in Hangzhou and growing in the world, bringing the strength of Chinese design to a global audience.
With design teams from around the world, we stay closely connected to international design trends and perspectives while actively supporting emerging designers and promoting original design.
